So, today’s 31 Blog Challenge Topic is to describe your location.  I live in Heron Bay in Parkland. FL.  Parkland is located in north Broward county in the Greater Ft. Lauderdale area of South East Florida.

It is just south of Boca Raton and north of Coral Springs.  It’s location, park like setting, A-Rated Schools and amenities offer a great quality of life that has put this city in great demand.

There are several communities in Parkland, with a total of 8,292 homes.  Heron Bay alone has approximately 3,000 homes, 2,200 of which sit in Parkland and the remaining 830 sit on a portion of the City of Coral Springs.  It’s centrally located with easy access to all the major highways, with everything nearby, from shops, restaurants, beaches and entertainment to the north, south and east of the city.

Heron_Bay_2Heron Bay is a master-planned community, built by WCI, with every thought, attention and detail given to creating a community where a complete quality lifestyle lies within the gates.  From golf, to tennis to basketball, to two resort style clubhouses, multiple community pools, spas and fitness facilities, Heron Bay really has it all available for its residents.

From the moment you drive up to the entrance, you are met by smiling faces at the gate, who wave as you drive through.  The scenery in this community is incredible.  Our landscaping committee, made up of homeowners in the community, can tell you how many different varieties of species of plants make up the incredible landscape, which is full of lush, tropical vegetation and designed with sloping jogging paths throughout, so that walking around the community is a true pleasure and great for an active lifestyle.

Located close to Florida’s Everglades, we see a fair share of small wildlife – mostly birds and lizards, although you can see snakes, raccoons and other small animals, etc, and even the odd alligator, as we have moved into their natural habitat, which is part of the community’s beauty.

There are several small communities within the gate, each with their own architectural style, entryways and associations.  These small subdivisions sprout off of the main – Heron Bay Blvd.

Heron+Bay+CPoolWe have two clubhouses.  Heron Bay Commons is the original clubhouse and comes complete with a resort style pool, spa, racquetball courts, fitness center and 12 tennis courts.

The Plaza del Lago is one of my favorite hangouts. I enjoy time at the community pool with friends, I love the beautiful design, and truly value the warm welcome as I arrive and grab a cup of complimentary coffee. The staff is always so warm and friendly.

I love the quiet, peacefulness of the library, where you can often see groups playing gin or bunko or watching the game on a Sunday. The view of the lushly landscaped pool deck welcomes you as you walk in. The clubhouse offers beautifully designed and maintained locker rooms, saunas, as well as spa services available in-house.

UnknownAs I go throughout the community, people are friendly.  They stop and chat or at the very least, wave as they go by.  I have met so many wonderful people at the clubhouse, either at the pool or in the gym and it is a wonderful feeling to be a part of a real neighborhood.  Most of the staff who work to keep our clubhouses going at a five star, professional level, have been here for years and become a part of our families too.

I love living here – it’s just a great place to live, work and play…

“Then my people will live in a peaceful habitation, And in secure dwellings and in undisturbed resting places”

Isaiah 32:18
